| Hudson Valley artist, Beverly Brand Donato studies nature in her own unique way. With an experienced eye and a practiced approach, she renders her most recent works revealing images expressing the patterns, reflections and textures in these natural scenes and settings, many times escaping the sleeping senses others may miss. Earning her masters in fine art, she spent several years teaching and introducing the world of art to countless eager children at the Fostertown Magnet School in Newburgh, NY. Even today, she feels very strongly about the importance of how much children need to experience nature and touch natural things. She recalls the memories of some of her earlier efforts with what she decribes at "Primitive Niave Painting". Having resided in an old 200+ year old home, she mastered the art of colonial style stenciled motifs and folk art, painted floor cloths and portraits. She has memories of her father being his own orginator of the "shabby-chic" decor craftsman and experienced first hand about restoring older, worn out pieces of furniture and transforming them into works of art! Beverly's love of antiques and turning "trash into treasure" turned this form of art into a fun and profitable popular creative expression. Her passion, however, truly is in the fine arts and her most influential and admired masters for her are Georgia O'Keefe, Cezanne and Matisse. She has exhibited her artwork in numerous juried art shows and has received awards and recognition among her creative peers. She is an artist who isn't afraid to experience the full spectrum of expression, and she is continually evolving her art and finding new ways of producing what she calls the "A-HA!" moment. Beverly Brand Donato explains that art is truly interactive and is best expressed by the sharing and exchange among other artists in the search and process of creating the final works. |
