Nestled between numbers 266 and 262 Main Street there is a new inspiring gallery called "Desires Come True" owned by expressionist artist, Dave Wilson. As I sought to quench my curiosity, I made the decision to walk through the welcoming "Open" entrance. I was warmly greeted by Dave with a smile and a handshake as he proceeded to give me a personal tour and insight of his latest works. "I am an expressionist" he says, "I have surrendered myself and allowed myself to listen and to be told what to do through my faith and my belief in God." As is apparent in his exhibit of spiritual penciled renderings that adorn a portion of his gallery. The light falls in beams across the room and I glance tenderly at Dave's feline companion basking in its warmth. "That's Ned." He tells me. Which would explain the witty warning sign at the bottom of the stairway, "Ned Crossing" designed with a quick sketch of the cat's face.
Upon more observation, I notice the gallery is flooded with sunlight and Dave eagerly explains the depth of his paintings and sometimes, there's an emotional story that emerges. "All that you see here, is me." Which is, at first, not apparent, but the more you speak with Dave, the artist, the more you truly see and appreciate the work and the passion he puts into the art. His art has been acknowleded and received by the Washingtonville Art Society, New York and he is currently preparing for his debut show August 14 2004. "Pursue your passion, and I hope that someday you will find what you are looking for," he advises.
Dave Wilson's talents definitely do not end with his paintings, he is also as passionate about his writing and poetry which is available to be read, selected and framed to your custom order. His gallery is usually open daily, and he welcomes anyone to come in to look, sit and stay awhile, read his works and enjoy his message.
