| Squatting by a stream a wonderous child trys with all her might to resurface a stone embedded in the sand. It sparkles in the sun and beckons to be seen, touched and held. Her curiosity is cured as she lifts the rock from its sleep and carefully brightens the precious piece in the cool water. |
| When I think of Janet Baskerville, I think of the amazing comfort and friendship that extends from her smile. When you approach her and view the jewelry art she has displayed, her work radiates the same way. All of her finished pieces come from her soul. She handcrafts them using semi-precious gems, vintage beads, glass, clay and art glass to create original wearable art. Along with the fascination for stones she had as a child, Janet studied jewelry design at the Westchester Art Workshop in White Plains, NY. As she says, "My destiny was sealed after I took my first jewelry class." Her own unique style blossomed through her creative journey and vision to artistically intertwine her healing and spiritual philosophy into her jewelry pieces through color strengths, design and meaning. Janet explains, "My greatest inspiration is from nature. I love all the colors, textures and ever changing landscapes. I would say that my jewelry is very down to earth." As long as she's known, Janet felt compelled to express her life creatively and it was when a friend had invited her to showcase her jewelry at a Christmas Open House gift show, she was onto something. "I made a few sales and got special orders. I printed up business cards and started giving them out to anyone that would take one!" Janet pursued her business and Nina B. Jewelry was born. Who is Nina B.? Janet explains, "Nina B. is my mother. She left this physical plane...and I realized this was the perfect way to honor her memory." Nina B. has blessed her with some success.
