| "Fuel For Your Passion" by Ruth Welter Ruth Welter brings her inspiration indoors to help fuel her creative works. |
| No matter what kind of art you create, as an artist, you need constant inspiration to keep yourself productive and fresh. Depending on what you create and how you work, each indivitual needs something different to get the creative juices flowing. Many years ago, I discovered a great source for continued inspiration that works for me and what I do. Most of my work contains nature and flowers. Because I love to paint florals and constantly want new and different ideas around me, I became an avid gardener. I found that the more that I added to my garden, the more variety and pleasure I derived from it, the more inspired I was to paint. It gets stronger and stronger each year, the more I garden, the more I paint and vise versa. I like to say that gardening fuels my passion to paint. Once you find a fuel for your passion, how do you keep it going? I found that creativity was much easier in the warmer months, when I naturally felt more inspired. However staying motivated in the middle of winter, I found to be more difficult. I decided a good tool I could use to keep my ideas flowing, no matter what the time of the year, was taking photos of my garden with my digital camera. This was a great aid for me during months of the year when I couldn't just go outside for a dose of creativity. I keep a file on disc of all the photos I've taken that I think might be of interest to me later. I now find myself leafing through the collection at many different times, to get ideas, organize my thoughts etc. If you thrive on being creative, find the passion that fuels your work. Once you find your inspiration, use any tools at your disposal to keep your creative juices flowing. |
